Notre Dame Fighting Irish betting news and analysis

The Irish advanced to Wednesday’s game by knocking off Georgia Tech 84-80 in the opening game of the ACC Tournament.

It was a surprisingly high-scoring game by ND standards, as Micah Shrewsberry’s team combines a Quad 4 offense with a Quad 1 defense.

Tuesday’s game was only the third time this season Notre Dame scored 80-plus points, and the fifth time they’d allowed the number.

The offensive outburst, led by the freshmen backcourt duo of Markus Burton (21 points) and Braeden Shrewsberry (23 points), is certainly good news for the Irish, but the 80 points allowed could be a little concerning. While it’s happened just five times this season, the Irish have allowed 80 or more in three straight games, perhaps a sign that a young team lacking quality depth is tiring.

Now, that team has to turn around and try to pull off an upset on 24 hours of rest.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons betting news and analysis

The Deacons enter the ACC Tournament as the No. 5 seed, but firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

That didn’t look to be the case in late February, as Wake knocked off Duke, leading to the infamous court-storming incident with a student “colliding” with Blue Devils’ star Kyle Filipowski. The Deacons followed that up, however, with three straight losses, including against this Notre Dame team.

Still, the advanced statistics like the team Steve Forbes is putting out on the court, as it features a top-30 offense and a top-50(ish) defense.

Wake is balanced, with four players averaging double figures in scoring, led by junior guard Hunter Sallis, who’s scoring 18.3 points per game. He struggled mightily in the loss to Notre Dame, however, shooting 18.2 percent from the field and finishing with seven points, four assists and four turnovers.

Notre Dame vs. Wake Forest player props picks

With Notre Dame having just played Tuesday in order to advance to this game, player props are sparse for the Irish.

On the Wake Forest side, however, Sallis has his points total set at . That’s below his average, and likely affected by what the Irish defense is capable of. But, as previously mentioned, that defense hasn’t been the same of late, and now it’s tired. Take the OVER on Sallis points.

Notre Dame vs. Wake Forest prediction ATS

The Irish certainly found something at the end of the season, as its young roster won five of six from Feb. 10 to March 2. But the lack of quality depth is showing, and fatigue appears to have set in. That’s not great on short rest against a team that needs this game to keep its March Madness hopes alive.

Pick: Wake Forest
