Nottingham Forest v Brentford: Best bets for Sunday and Monday’s Premier League games

Our betting expert with a 50/1 punt for the City Ground, some Championship action and Chelsea at Fulham on Monday PLUS a Serie A angle

Ethan Pinnock of Brentford is a bigger goal threat than you might expect

Get on a big Bee to put a smile on your face.

Brentford’s mission is “to be the happiest cub in the world” it was revealed last week.

They might need to get a wriggle on. As it stands, their best players seem mostly happy about leaving Brentford.

After David Raya’s loan exit for Arsenal, Ivan Toney is fancied to be odds-on for a January departure, though it is hard to find any odds you can actually back, which is perhaps for the best.

With a long list of major injuries, it’s surprising to see the Bees are favourites at Nottingham Forest (2pm), who boast some gritty recent results.

Plenty of stats do say the hosts are vulnerable to Brentford’s strong set-piece game – and vice-versa. Picking a big-price set-piece threat for either could help jolly this one along.

Not so easy to do with Forest – they’ve already used 20 starters in the Prem. Try Brentford’s Ethan Pinnock.

He’s been knocking on the door and 50/1 (Bet365) ‘first scorer’ is big on his data. Split a fun stake with 20/1 (Bet365) ‘anytime scorer’ as well – last season Pinnock earned 14/1 ‘first’ and a 9/1 ‘anytime’ goal ratings.

In the Championship, Blackburn are shipping a lot of goals and it’s hard to see why that might stop when Leicester roll up (12noon). The Foxes have dug up something special in young Kasey McAteer – 17/4 (Unibet) ‘anytime scorer’ is too big.

Rovers look frail against the long-range poke – a nudge for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall ‘score or assist’ at 13/8 and ‘scores from outside box’ at 9/1 (both Hills).

Over in Serie A, Jose Mourinho’s Roma are proving a bit hit and miss, but Romelu Lukaku keeps scoring – punt him ‘anytime scorer’ at 13/10 (Hills) as Frosinone visit (5pm).

Chelsea’s squeaky 1-0 against a cup-shuffled Brighton in midweek is only the second time this season they’ve managed to beat a top-flight team, and the other was Luton.

Scorer Nicolas Jackson is banned at Fulham (8pm tomorrow), but Mauricio Pochettino might end up being thankful for the hosts’ ropey discipline. Have ‘penalty in match’ at 21/10 (Boylesports).
