Newcastle v Wolves: Best bets for all Sunday’s Premier League games

Irish Mirror

Back home-proud Newcastle to fit another clean sheet today.

After tipping a 0-0 at Anfield last Sunday – which even with the best will in the world turned out no better than half right – here we go again, as the stats scream for a goal-lite game at St James’ Park.

Eddie Howe and his Toon have recorded eight ‘no goalscorer’ results in their 32 games all told so far this season – a 3/1 raw rating – and 11 of their 16 home games have been NO ‘both teams to score’.

No team in the top flight has scored fewer goals than visitors Wolves (4.30pm).

The 9/1 (Fred) ‘no scorer’ looks like fair value for worldie hunters.

And the coin-flip angle that stands out is 21/20 (Fred) ‘ Newcastle clean sheet’ – they can boast 10 in 16 homes this season.

West Ham, just back from Cyprus, host Aston Villa (2pm) and have conceded fewer goals at home in the Prem than Arsenal and Tottenham.

But their post-Europa Sunday record is fairly alarming. In-form Villa ace Ollie Watkins is a solid ‘anytime scorer’ shout at 3/1 (Bet365).

When Manchester United beat visitors Southampton (2pm) 9-0 in February 2021, Jan Bednarek was sent off late on, when the score was still just a cheeky six-zip.

The Saints’ big Pole is a set-piece nuisance who earned a 15/2 ‘anytime scorer’ rating last season – 25/1 (Paddy) is worth a fun nugget. At the other end of the price range, Marcus Rashford ‘anytime’ is a generous offer at 11/10 (Hills), have both.

Arsenal look like being hard work for the general 4/7 at Fulham (2pm) – Mikel Arteta’s minimal-rotation policy does appear to be wearing the Gunners thinner and thinner.

They should still outwit a Cottagers defence that expected-goals boffins rated the most vulnerable in the Prem ahead of this round. Gabriel Martinelli is the right threat to take advantage of them at 9/4 (Boylesport) ‘anytime scorer’.

In France, Toulouse’s Thijs Dallinga is in form and value at 7/4 (Skybet) to score ‘anytime’ at ban-damaged Angers (2pm, Ligue 1).
