Nottingham Forest vs Brentford Prediction

Both Nottingham Forest and Brentford are toward the bottom of the table, but that doesn't mean this contest will be lacking in excitement. These teams like to press the pace, leading to a potentially up-and-down day, as our EPL betting picks explain.

Sunday’s only Premier League clash sees Nottingham Forest vs Brentford at the City Ground. Only one point and one position in the Premier League table separated these clubs heading into the weekend, and with three points on the line, they’ll both be hoping to leap into the top half of the table.

Who comes out on top and what’s our best bet in the EPL odds for the game? Don’t miss our Nottingham Forest vs Brentford picks and predictions for Sunday, October 1.

Nottingham Forest vs Brentford picks and predictions

We’ve got an unusual Sunday in the Premier League ahead with just one fixture to enjoy. That game is of course Nottingham Forest vs Brentford, a game that should closely fought and exciting.

Coming into this weekend, Nottingham Forest were sat 12th in the Premier League, one spot higher than Sunday’s away side Brentford, with an additional point in the bank.

These two teams feel fairly different from what we saw last season. Nottingham Forest are hugely improved, as they’ve won two of their six games this season and have impressed. We saw slightly fewer incoming players this preseason than last and Steve Cooper has used that to his advantage, with the team seemingly more settled than it was at times last year. They aren’t free-scoring but they’ve averaged over a goal per game.

Likewise Brentford, who’ve scored nine goals in six Premier League games this season. That is despite Ivan Toney, their star player, being suspended.

Toney won’t be back for a while, and unsurprisingly, the team isn’t as dangerous without him in the lineup. The ability of these two teams to find the back of the net is the reasoning behind our best bet for Nottingham Forest vs Brentford, where we’ll be backing Both Teams to Score.

While Forest and Brentford haven’t been tearing teams apart to the extent of those at the top of the Premier League table like Man City, it is noticeable that they’ve both scored more goals than any other team in the bottom half of the table. That tells you in part where they have problems, as they are capable of scoring goals but also give up too many.

Both teams have allowed nine goals this season, an average of 1.5 goals per game, while both are scoring more than one goal per game of their own. Both sides have managed to find the back of the net in five of their six Premier League games this season. Forest have only failed to score against one team, the champions Manchester City, while Brentford have notched against everyone except the defensively strong Newcastle. That shows the ability that both have in terms of getting into dangerous positions.

They are both able to score, and when we dig into the data, we can see that Both Teams to Score has landed in 66.7% of both team’s games this season. Not only that, but in both of last season’s Premier League meetings, we saw both teams scoring.

The stats this season, and historically, both point us towards us backing Both Teams to Score. At -118, we’d be silly to ignore the evidence.

My best bet: Both Teams to Score - Yes (-118 at TonyBet)

Nottingham Forest vs Brentford same-game parlay

Both Teams to Score

Aaron Hickey Over 0.5 fouls

Morgan Gibbs-White Over 0.5 shots on target

We have a +350 same-game parlay for Nottingham Forest vs Brentford which, when you look at the stats, has every chance of landing.

First up, we’re going with our best bet for Nottingham Forest vs Brentford, which is Both Teams to Score.

For the second leg, we’re backing Brentford’s Scottish leftback Aaron Hickey to commit a foul. He’s averaged 1.3 fouls per game so far this season, and he’s shown across the last year and a bit that he can be rash defensively. That is a real concern when he’s going to be matched up against the pace of Anthony Elanga down Forest’s right flank.

Our final leg sees Morgan Gibbs-White getting a shot on target. The 23-year-old is the best player in the Forest squad and potentially a player who’ll earn a big move in the coming seasons. He’s yet to open his account this season but he’s averaged two shots per game. That’s more than anybody else at the club, including star striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

I’m backing Gibbs-White to get at least one shot on target against a Brentford team who allow 13.7 shots per game.

Nottingham Forest vs Brentford side and Over/Under analysis

When it comes to picking a winner for this game, I really can’t split the two teams. You can get +165 on Forest winning at home, with Brentford marginal favorites at +160, and the draw coming in at +225.

We’ve seen that Nottingham Forest are generally quite strong at home, with the City Ground being one of the best atmospheres in the Premier League. That said, nothing would surprise me with this game. I could see them winning or losing 2-1, or finishing with a 1-1 draw.

You can grab Over 2.5 goals at +110 which feels like potential value and is far more attractive than the Under at -133.

I’m certain we’ll see at least two goals with both teams scoring, but whether either team gets the third goal needed to hit the Over, I don’t quite know. For that reason, I’d take the Both Teams to Score wager at -118 instead, as it feels a little safer.
