Now that J.J. McCarthy is secure as QB1, how can he elevate Michigan’s offense?

J.J McCarthy will start at Michigan's starting quarterback next week. McCarthy won the starting job after a year-long quarterback battle. Cade McNamara is injured. The change in quarterbacking style could be a season-changer for Michigan.  The team's offense was almost never in the wrong play with McNara at the helm last year. It's not a common practice in college football to have a quarterback working with the coach on the sideline. This is not the case in Ann Arbor. Michigan has used this kind of check with me system before. In high school, McCarthy did some of this in high School at IMG Academy.

McCarthy is starting quarterback for Michigan. He's a natural athlete who can make life easier for himself and others. His talent trims the margins and helps everyone else maximize what they do best. McCarthy is the best college quarterback prospect Jim Harbaugh has had since he worked with Andrew Luck at Stanford. If all things continue along his current developmental track without problems, his eventual draft ceiling should be very high. Michigan spent the entire 2021 season putting on tape. It's something Michigan has spent all season preparing for. The tape shows that McCarthy has the ability to create more space for his offense.
