Feyenoord boss Slot, who has been odds-on favourite for the post for most of the week, confirmed he will be staying in Rotterdam after a snubbing an approach from Leeds.

"But it is true that I will stay with Feyenoord, I can say that with this one. That is clear, fans do not have to be afraid," Slot told Voetbal International.

"'I think a combination of both. The club has been clear. It was a compliment that a club like Leeds was interested, but we are doing something great with Feyenoord. We are in a great position in the league, the cup and Europe.

"There is no disappointment. It's certainly not a punishment to stay here."

Former River Plate manager Gallardo also knocked back an approach from Leeds, after he had reportedly had concerns with the language barrier.

Former Wolves and Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo will soon be the 4/1 favourite with very few other names leaping out of the chasing pack.

Rafa Benitez lurks at 16/1, with Steven Gerrard at 20s with some bookmakers. Currently Leeds caretaker boss Michael Skubala is also at 20/1.
