Odds to be First NHL Coach Fired in 2022-23
Sheldon Keefe is the favorite to be fired as the coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He just led the team to a franchise record 115 points during the regular season. However, the Leafs haven't won a playoff round since 2004. The team is a top contender in the 2023 Stanley Cup odds. The last two years only three teams accumulated more points than the Maple Leaf's.
Peter Laviolette has odds of +800 to be the first NHL coach to get fired this year. Lav Violette's Washington Capitals are one of the teams that might miss out on the postseason entirely next year because of injuries. Dallas Eakins is under pressure in Anaheim because he hasn't gotten his team to the playoffs since taking over. Pat Verbeek was hired as general manager for Anaheim midway through last season.
Keefe is the favourite to be the first NHL coach fired. Laviolette is in the final year of his contract with Washington. He's the favorite to get fired first in this year's NHL season. He is also the best bet for the next one. The next coach to lose his job is expected to take over in 2022-23.
