Odds to win Masters 2023: Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, Max Homa, more

The first major in golf has arrived as the 87th annual Masters Tournament is set to begin Thursday at 8 a.m. at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.

Last year, New Jersey's own Scottie Scheffler won the first major in his career by taking home the green jacket.

Tiger Woods, the 15-time major winner and five-time champion of this event, currently sits at 70/1 (+7000) pre-tournament to win. The 47-year-old shocked the world in 2019 when he won The Masters, his first major victory since the 2008 U.S. Open.

Here are four golfers you might want to wager on to win the 2023 Masters with odds powered by Tipico Sportsbook.

1. Scottie Scheffler (+670)

It should be no surprise that Scheffler enters this weekend as the odds-on-favorite to win The Masters. The defending champion and Ridgewood, New Jersey, native has been one of, if not the most, consistent golfers with 12 Top-10 finishes including two more victories on the PGA Tour since last year's win at Augusta.

The biggest question is whether Scheffler can repeat. Just three players in Masters history have won the tournament in back-to-back years, and none since Woods did it in 2001-02.

The 26-year-old Scheffler has four top-five finishes including two victories at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February and The PLAYERS Championship a month ago.

It'll no doubt be a challenge for Scheffler to repeat, but if anyone were to do it, it would be him.

2. Jon Rahm (+900)

Rahm was arguably the best player in the world when the calendar flipped to 2023. The 28-year-old won three times and finished top-seven in each of the seven events.

However, things changed at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in early March. After leading with an opening-round 65, Rahm shot a 76 in rounds 2 and 3 and finished tied for 39th. He would then go on to withdraw from The PLAYERS Championship the following week with a stomach illness.

Rahm tied for 27th at the 2022 Masters, but prior to that had four straight top-10 finishes at Augusta. Bettors will potentially be hesitant to bet on him to win his first green jacket, but have faith in Rahm to bounce back and be in the thick of it Sunday afternoon after a few tough weeks.

3. Justin Thomas (+2000)

Slightly down the board at 20/1 is Thomas. The two-time major winner has had a decent start to the 2022-23 season with multiple top-five finishes but no wins since he won his second major at the PGA Championship last May.

Thomas has made all seven cuts in his career at Augusta but has recently played much better at the course. The 29-year-old has two Top-10s in his previous three starts including a career-best 4th in 2020.

J.T. is too good of a value to pass up this far down the board, especially with how well he's fared in recent attempts to win his first Masters.

Longshot bet: Max Homa (+3000)

My longshot to wager on this weekend is Homa at 30/1. The California native was neck-and-neck with Rahm in January when he was top-3 in three of four events including a victory at The Farmers Insurance Open. Homa has still been solid, finishing 14th or better in his previous three outings.

One place Homa has struggled is at Augusta National. He missed his first two cuts in 2020 and 2021 and finished tied for 48th at the 2022 Masters.

I believe with his play so far this season, Homa is a good bet on to win the first major of his career.
