Oregon is a victory away from its second 12-win season since 2015 but must get through undefeated Liberty in the Fiesta Bowl to reach that mark.

The Ducks had a memorable 2023 campaign in Dan Lanning’s second year in Eugene. Oregon ranks top 10 among P5 teams in offensive scoring and defensive points allowed, with marquee wins over Texas Tech, Colorado, Utah, USC, and Oregon State.

However, Oregon failed to get past Washington twice, which cost the Ducks a spot in the College Football Playoff. Even though UO failed to reach its ultimate goal of winning a National Championship, many star players are suiting up for the Fiesta Bowl.

Bo Nix, Bucky Irving, and Tez Johnson will each be active, while Troy Franklin, Jackson Powers-Johnson, and Khyree Jackson are sitting out.

Liberty only has a few impact players opting out, meaning the Flames will be at near-full strength for the Fiesta Bowl. Liberty’s offense ranks fourth in FBS scoring thanks to an offense that’s tops in the nation in rushing yards per game.

Kaidon Salter is one of the best G5 players, throwing for 2,750 yards, 31 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Salter also ran for 1,064 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Flames offense is one of the most entertaining in the nation and boasts two 1,000+ yard rushers and CJ Daniels, who was 12 yards short of 1,000 receiving yards. However, Liberty faced no power five teams this season.

Oregon surrenders only 17 points and 97 rushing yards per game. Liberty has yet to prove it can compete against a top-tier team, and with many starters active for Oregon, the Ducks will be plenty motivated to dominate in the Fiesta Bowl.

The Flames had one of the worst passing defenses in Conference USA, allowing 245 yards per game. Franklin sitting out is a huge blow for the Ducks, but Johnson is more than capable of stepping up in Troy’s absence.

Tez’s 1,010 yards were the sixth-highest in the Pac-12, setting a new career high for the Troy transfer.

Nix has the second-most passing yards in college football and has an eye-popping 40/3 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Bo eclipsed 360 passing yards in four of Oregon’s last five games.
