Owner threatens to quit racing as appeal to get horse name reinstated fails

Nick Rhodes is angry at the British Horseracing Authority for rejecting his appeal to change the name of his horse to Buggalugs. He chose the nickname for his juvenile sprinter Sling Yer Hook as it was an affectionate term his late father used in his childhood. The BHA's representative said the horse's name will split opinion. The sport's marketing and promotional body launched a £1.6 million campaign called Everyone's Turf to boost attendances this summer. It is aimed at younger people. Jockey Club announced a new partnership with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation.
