Panama World Baseball Classic qualifier guide
Six teams enter the Panama City qualifiers. Two teams make it to the World Baseball Classic tournament in March 2023.
Team Argentina has never entered the World Baseball Classic. Team Brazil has six players affiliated with MLB organizations on their roster. New Zealand has no team and has finished 14th in the 2013 World Championship. Baseball is not a major sport in New Zealander. They have a famous soccer player. Steve Finley is their manager. LaTroy Hawkins is the pitching coach. Christian and Timothy Lopes are brothers who played in MLB. Paulo Orlando hasn't played for MLB since 2018. He is slated to play for Brazil. His first hit of his career was a homer for Seattle back in '19.
