Philadelphia Phillies vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction 8-27-23 MLB Picks

The St. Louis Cardinals and the Philadelphia Phillies meet Sunday in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park. This will be the final installment in a three-game weekend series. The Phillies took a five-run win in the Friday opener, then in game two the Phillies kept it up with a blowout victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals got two RBI and a homer from Paul Goldschmidt in the Friday opener of this set, but otherwise were pretty quiet in a 7-2 loss. On Saturday in game two St. Louis had a brief lead in the third but didn’t score from there in a rough 12-1 loss. Luken Baker was the lone provider of an RBI on a solo home run.

In the starter role for the Cards on Sunday it’ll be Drew Rom. After one start so far Rom is 0-1 with a 14.73 ERA and four Ks in 3.2 innings. Rom gave up eight hits and four walks along the way.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stick with the Phillies in this one. Nola is pitching well right now. He’s 2-0 in his last three starts with seven earned in 17.0 total innings on 16 hits and six walks. As for Rom, there’s really nowhere to go but up after his rough start on August 21 versus the Pirates (3.2 innings; six earned). On Saturday Philly had a great offensive evening; five different players had multiple hits. That makes four or more runs in five straight games for the Phillies, and I think they’ll keep up the onslaught in the finale for the sweep.
