Phillies predictions: Bryce Harper's return, Aaron Nola's contract

Nobody would have predicted Rob Thomson to manage the Phillies in 2022. He will make a few predictions for the team in 2023. He is confident nobody will forward him this email in a couple of months and tell him how wrong he was.

Aaron Nola is fifth in the Majors among pitchers with 21.6 WAR since 2018. He is behind Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, Gerrit Cole and Zack Wheeler. Nolas has thrown more innings (871 2/3) in that span than anyone else. The Phillies didn't pursue de Grom or Verlander this offseason. Carlos Rodón got six years, $162 million from the Yankees.

Trea Turner will replace Kyle Schwarber in the leadoff spot on Opening Day. The Phillies’ first pitch of the 2023 season is on March 30 in Texas.

Andrew Painter will be in the top three for Rookie of the Year. Bryce Harper will return to the Phillies.

The Phillies expect Bryce Harper to be back by the All-Star break.

Rhys Hoskins will be a free agent after next season. He will have the best year of his career.
