Phillies vs. Mets, 10/1/23 MLB Betting Odds & Prediction

The Philadelphia Phillies will send Matt Strahm to the mound as the opener in Sunday’s regular season finale against the New York Mets. The Mets will counter with Jose Butto. With the line essentially a pick’em, what is the best bet today from New York?

981 Philadelphia Phillies (-105) at 982 New York Mets (-105); o/u 8.0

As of this writing, our MLB Public Betting Page shows that 50% of bets are on the Phillies’ moneyline. That said, this page is updated frequently so make sure that you click on the link provided so that you’re getting the most updated information.

Trea Turner went 1-3 for the Phillies in Game 2 against the Mets on Saturday night. Turner was removed from the game in the top of the 7th inning after getting hit by a pitch in the left elbow by Mets’ pitcher Reed Garrett. Turner is considered day-to-day after being diagnosed with an elbow contusion. Hopefully for the Phillies, Turner will be in the lineup once the wild card round begins on Tuesday night.

Francisco Alvarez led the way for New York against the Phillies in their 11-4 win in game two of Saturday’s double header. Alvarez finished the night 2-3 at the plate with two home runs and six driven in. Shortstop, Francisco Lindor also went deep for the Mets on Saturday night, while extending his hit streak to six games.

New York is 5-0 SU in their last 5 home games against Philadelphia.

Philadelphia is 4-6 ATS in their last 10 road games.

The total has gone under in 3 of the last 5 games for New York.

Matt Strahm will serve as the opener for Philadelphia on Sunday. Nick Nelson will pitch majority of the innings. For Nelson, this will be his first big league action of the 2023 season. Nelson holds a 7-3 record with 4.35 in 20 starts for the Phillies Triple-A club this year. I like the Mets in this spot, the Phillies are going to be trying to get through this game without any injuries and not having to use many pitchers. Let’s back the Mets in this one to finish off the season on a high note.

Phillies vs. Mets Prediction: New York Mets -105
