Pistons bettor won $1M on upset over Kings, aims for Super Bowl next

The Detroit Pistons set the record for the longest single-season losing streak in NBA history this season at 28 games. Their seven wins through Wednesday remain two fewer than any other team in the league.

For most bettors, that level of losing makes a team untouchable. Sure, the Pistons may get a favorable spread from time to time or a player prop too good to pass on, but the team’s moneyline just usually isn’t worth it.

That is unless you’re professional bettor Marco Piemonte, who saw an opportunity in Detroit’s road game against the Sacramento Kings Wednesday and swung big. He bet $170,000 on Detroit’s +600 odds to net more than $1 million when the Pistons pulled off the upset.

Piemonte said he wants to give away a car or two with some of his earnings, and maybe use some of it to place his biggest bet ever — on the Super Bowl.

The best part about this is Piemonte didn’t just brag about his win after winning. He actually used his Instagram story to alert his followers before the game, posting a message that said “Pistons please baby please.”

He then posted a screenshot of two DraftKings tickets, one for $230,000 on Pistons +13.5 that he cashed out for $401,095 in the third quarter with Detroit leading by 15. And the other was the $170,000 ticket, which was essentially paid off by the spread bet. It was free money at that point so he let it ride, and after a little sweat it cashed for the incredible win.
