Pistons' historic losing streak a massive opportunity for sports bettors

If you’ve been fading the Pistons, congratulations.

Detroit is in the midst of one of the worst stretches in NBA history, losing 24 straight games, the longest losing streak in franchise history and the fourth-longest in NBA history.

They’ve gone nearly two months since they’ve been in the win column after starting the season 2-1.

As you can imagine, you would have made a killing betting against them.

According to Ben Fawkes on X, if you started with $100 and bet on every Detroit opponent to win, rolling over your winnings every game, you’d now be up over $133,000 after their loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night.

The Pistons now sit at 2-25, the worst record in the NBA and one of the worst starts in league history.

Their 25 losses in their first 27 games are tied for the third-most ever, behind the 2015-16 76ers and 1970-71 Cavaliers, who each lost 26 of their first 27 games.

It’s been a historically bad run, although oddsmakers haven’t given them much love along the way.

Entering the season, the Pistons’ win total was set at 27.5 wins, which was the second-fewest at DraftKings Sportsbook ahead of the Washington Wizards (24.5 wins).

Detroit has been a favorite in just two games this season, losing both of them.

But even against the spread, the Pistons have been atrocious.

They are currently 9-17-1 ATS, which is the third-worst record in the NBA.

The Pistons will get their next shot at breaking their cold streak on Thursday when they host the Utah Jazz.

The Jazz, who are 10-17 this season, will be coming off a back-to-back on Thursday, so there’s a chance the Pistons will be a slight home favorite.

As we’ve seen over the past two months though, betting on Detroit hasn’t been a profitable move.
