Pittsburgh Pirates vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction 7-19-23 MLB Picks

The Cleveland Guardians and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet Wednesday in MLB action from PNC Park. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. The Guardians took a big win in the opener, then on Tuesday Cleveland kept it up with another blowout victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Cleveland Guardians

Cleveland didn’t have too many issues in game one Monday, rolling to an 11-0 shutout victory. On Tuesday the Guardians got a great performance from Josh Naylor, who finished 2-for-4 with two runs and six RBI in a 10-1 blowout win. Andres Gimenez added three hits and a run, while Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan added two hits and two runs apiece.

For the starter job Wednesday it’ll be Cleveland’s Aaron Civale. In his 10 starts this year Civale is 3-2 with a 2.65 ERA and 46 Ks in 57.2 innings. Civale is 27-23 in his career with a 3.88 ERA in 73 starts.

Pittsburgh Pirates

Over on the Pittsburgh side, they were out-hit 12-4 in the Monday blowout loss. On Tuesday the Pirates gave up 13 hits in the defeat, continuing the downward trend. No player had multiple hits, but Connor Joe provided the only run with a solo homer. Mitch Keller left after 6.0 innings, 10 hits and eight earned.

In the starting pitcher role Wednesday it’ll be Rich Hill. This year Hill is 7-9 with a 4.76 ERA and 93 Ks in 104.0 innings. Hill is 89-68 with a 3.92 ERA in 369 career games (240 starts).

Cleveland is 142-121 against the money line in all games over the last two seasons and 69-63 against the money line in road games over the last two seasons. Civale is 1-1 against Pittsburgh in his career and Hill is 2-1 against Cleveland.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably just stay with the Guardians here. Civale is pitching well right now. He’s got just three earned in his last three starts over a span of 18.0 combined innings. As for Hill, he’s got 11 earned over his last 15.0 innings and has gone 0-2 in his last three starts. On Tuesday the Guardians had another great offensive performance; that makes 21 runs (and one allowed) in two games. Cleveland shouldn’t have too many issues if Hill continues to struggle and it should be a high total.
