Los Angeles Dodgers vs Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction 7-3-23 MLB Picks

The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet Monday in MLB action from Dodger Stadium. The Pirates are coming off a weekend series versus the Brewers. Pittsburgh Pirates 

The Pirates managed an 8-7 win over the Brewers Friday, but fell 11-8 in game two. On Sunday Pittsburgh had a brief 2-0 lead but couldn’t hang on in a 6-3 loss. Starting pitcher Rich Hill lasted 5.0 innings with three earned on three hits and two walks. 

For the starter job on Monday the Pirates are sending out Mitch Keller. In 17 starts this year Keller is 9-3 with a 3.34 ERA and 118 Ks in 105.0 innings. Keller is 21-32 in his career with a 4.60 ERA in 87 games (85 starts). 

Los Angeles Dodgers 

Over on the Dodgers’ side, they beat the Royals 9-3 Friday then managed a 6-4 game two win. In the rubber match Sunday LA was out-hit 15-6 in a 9-1 loss. Starter Tony Gonsolin managed 3.2 innings, four earned, six hits and three walks. 

In the starting pitcher slot Monday the Dodgers didn’t initially announce a name. This would be Clayton Kershaw's spot if he's able to go.

I might try the Pirates here. Keller is on a pretty good run over his last two starts. In that pair, Keller has just two earned in 13.0 combined innings on nine hits and two walks. It’s been a nice turnaround since his four-earned loss in Milwaukee on June 17. On Sunday the Pirates got off to a pretty good start but couldn’t get much going after the second inning. LA is reeling a bit after that blowout loss, but Pittsburgh will still need a good bounce-back. I’m probably not touching this one.
