Premier League Darts: Night Four tips as Michael van Gerwen eyes hat-trick

The Dutchman is currently top of the table after winning the last two nights in Berlin and Glasgow.

Mighty Mike is setting his sights on a third straight win, but he faces a tough quarter-final draw against Gerwyn Price.

Elsewhere, out-of-form Peter Wright takes on teenage sensation Luke Littler, while Michael Smith meets Nathan Aspinall. The other quarter-final is a battle of world champions as Luke Humphries commences battle against Rob Cross.

Gerwyn Price vs Michael van Gerwen

Despite bowing out in the quarter-final last week, Littler leads the betting ahead of the fourth Premier League night.

The 17-year-old is the 5/2 favourite to go all the way in Newcastle, with Humphries and Van Gerwen close behind at 10/3 and 7/2.

One reason for Littler’s short price is the quarter-final draw. The teenager takes on an out-of-form Peter Wright who is yet to pick up a single point in the Premier League this season.

The Scotsman is struggling to find a groove and has produced averages of 83, 94 and 86 in his three quarter-final defeats.

Littler may be favourite with the bookmakers, though our recommendation is to back Humphries. The reigning world champion averaged over 100 in all three of his matches last week in Glasgow.

Cool Hand reached the final before losing to MVG in a thriller. Despite this, the 29-year-old looks in good form ahead of his trip to Newcastle.

Humphries takes on Cross in his opener – an opponent he has beaten in their last three encounters.

Should he progress, the world champion will take on either Michael Smith or Nathan Aspinall – two players who are hit and miss at the moment.

Bearing everything in mind, we’re backing Humphries to win night four. Our second selection is for Humphries and Van Gerwen to meet in the final for the second straight week.
