Premier League investigating after Wolves sleeve sponsor accused of illegal streaming

Wolves and the Premier League are investigating after sleeve sponsor 6686 Sport were accused of illegally streaming games on their Chinese language website.

Josimar claimed on Tuesday that 6686 Sport, an Asian bookmaker, has been making games from the Premier League, Bundesliga and Serie A among other competitions available for visitors to their site to watch for free.

6686 Sport is not an official broadcast partner of the Premier League and has not paid for the rights.

Wolves are raising the issue with 6686 Sport with the Premier League aware and looking into the matter.

The club and 6686 Sport agreed a partnership deal — the biggest sleeve sponsorship in club history — earlier this year with the agreement officially announced in August ahead of the new season.

The company’s logo appears on both Wolves’ home and away kits as well as on advertising boards at the club’s home ground, Molineux.

6686 Sport was also confirmed as the club’s official Asian betting partner with the partnership said to be providing “a great opportunity to support each other’s growth in the region and connect with the continent’s football fans” when it was announced.

The Premier League has taken a strong stance on the piracy of its content in recent years with five men jailed for more than 30 years back in May for their involvement in a network that illegally streamed matches.
