Questions Raised Over a Manchester City Betting Partner

Daily Mail questions the legitimacy of Manchester City's official Asian betting partner 8xBet.

Daily Mail has investigated Manchester City's official Asian betting partner 8xBet. The company was founded in 2018 but the web domain was still for sale at the end of 2021. A platform called 978bet went live near the year 2021 and was rebranded to 8XBet the following month.

8xBet announced English soccer legend Teddy Sheringham as brand ambassador earlier this year. The video announcing the partnership with Shering featured a model who is not listed as an employee of the Asian betting operator. Trinh Thu Trang, the supposed CEO and co-founder of 8xbet, deleted her LinkedIn profile after it was established her profile picture was a stock image. Marketing company QOO Global had its own irregularities and was only listed client of 8XBet.

Manchester City is the focus of an EPL investigation regarding financial irregularities. The club's legal team is contesting the legitimacy of the investigation. Last week, Fulham cut ties with Titan Capital Markets following another Daily Mail investigation and it was revealed that the company was made up of fake employees.
