Premier League star unrecognisable after swapping luscious locks for buzz cut

Sheffield United midfielder Tom Davies was virtually unrecognisable as he debuted a new hair cut.

Davies, 25, has made just three Premier League appearances for the Blades since leaving Everton as a free agent last summer. He's been sidelined long-term with an injury issue.

But as he made his return to the training pitch this week and reunited with his team-mates, his barnet left fans shocked. During his career at Goodison Park, Davies rocked luscious long locks which he tied up in a bun.

Now he's opted for a flat mohawk, reminiscent of UFC legend Chuck Liddell. Fans were quick to poke fun at the transformation, with one one joking: "What six months of Sheffield United does to a man."

"Yarkshire has got him reet," commented a second, with a third reacting: "My theory that South Yorkshire is the UK’s Russia remains undefeated."

"Good lord!!! His transformation is like an Eri Dier/Oli McBurnie mash up," argued a fourth, while a fifth echoed: "Had to double check it wasn’t McBurnie first time around."

Davies actually shaved his hair off to a buzz cut for charity back in October. "Well here it is, I’m raising money for @jamesplaceuk who help save lives of men in suicidal crisis, with free life saving treatment in there centres," he explained at the time.

"Since opening in 2018, James’ Place has treated over 1,500 suicidal men, delivering over 7,500 therapy sessions providing hopefully futures to men that felt like they didn’t have them.

"The fundraiser is still going so if you can donate it will go a long way the link is in my bio! Thank you all again for the donations so far and let me know what you think of my new look for mental health!"

United boss Chris Wilder will be hoping fashionista Davies will be back to full fitness soon, with his side still sitting bottom of the Premier League table.
