Previewing the Gamecock Receivers for 2022

South Carolina began Fall camp on Friday. The Gamecocks are looking to exceed expectations under coach Shane Beamer. Spencer Rattler will take over under center for the Gamecock offense.

South Carolina's receivers room should be a strength this season. The tight end position should also be well stocked. This team averaged 22 points and 201 yards passing per game last season and needs to improve that this year.

Josh Vann is returning to play for the Gamecocks in 2022. He had 13 more catches and nearly 200 more yards last season. Ahmarean Brown and Xavier Legette are the two most likely candidates to replace him.

Beamer signed Antoine Wells and Corey Rucker as receivers. Wells was an FCS All-American at James Madison last season. Rucker was named to the Biletnikoff Award watchlist for the upcoming season at Arkansas State. He had over 800 yards and nine touchdowns in the Sun Belt last year.

Jaheim Bell is coming off a great bowl game to end 2021. He can play tight end, in the slot, and on the outside. South Carolina also added transfer Austin Stogner from Oklahoma this offseason. Traevon Kenion is behind them on their depth chart.

Dakereon Joyner played quarterback in the Belk Bowl victory over UNC last season. He will move back to receiver this fall. Jalen Brooks is a wildcard as he has never fully integrated himself into the offense.

Beamer and his staff have done an excellent job of stocking talent along the roster. Now it's down to the players executing and producing on game days.
