Punters were ripped off as Royal Ascot stewards declared Stunning Beauty a starter in the Kensington Palace Stakes despite her being blindfolded when the gates crashed open. World Pool punters lost almost HK$6 million. It is the first challenge for the Worldpool concept. Jockey Club chief steward Kim Kelly flagged the non-runner rule at the International Harmonisation of Racing Rules Committee meeting in 2018. He hopes this incident can be the catalyst for change. The committee sits under the IHRA umbrella. There needs to be harmonisation on major racing rules. for it to reach its potential.
