Qatar secured an automatic World Cup qualification spot. The team is managed by Felix Sanchez, who came through the ranks coaching FC Barcelona's youth side. He has lived and worked in Qatar since 2006 and joined the Aspire Academy to help scout young athletes.

Qatar are hosting the World Cup 2022. They are in Group A with Ecuador, Senegal and Netherlands. The tournament runs from November 20 to December 18. Qatar's top scorer is Almoez Ali (39). Hassan Al-Haydos (33), Akram Afif (24) and Alhassan Al Haydos are also important players. Most of the players play for Qatar clubs Al Sadd and al Duhail. Akam Afaf played for Sevilla and Eupen before joining Villarreal.
