Quality of hockey, business booming as NHL begins new season

Nathan MacKinnon will become the highest-paid player in the NHL after signing a $100.8 million contract extension. Revenue hit a record of $5.2 billion last year. The NHL is adding advertisements to jerseys for the first time. The league is going to play a full season on a normal schedule for first since before the pandemic. Players are still paying back owners for losses from the Pandemic under their collective-bargaining agreement. Montreal captain Nick Suzuki says it's a give and take between tradition and the need for revenue. It's tough, but the league has to make money back any way it can.
