Quinnipiac vs Michigan Picks, Predictions, and Odds Tonight

Quinnipiac and Michigan will meet in the second semifinal, and this game will be grueling for both sides. The Wolverines possess plenty of skill, but our betting picks believe it'll be the Bobcats' defensive effort that tells the story of this match.

The second semifinal game of the Frozen Four will feature the best offensive team in the country — the Michigan Wolverines — against the best defensive team in the nation, the Quinnipiac Bobcats.

Michigan got to the Frozen Four thanks to an overtime goal, defeating Penn State by the score of 2-1, while Quinnipiac absolutely dominated their region, outscoring Merrimack and Ohio State by a combined score of 9-1.

Quinnipiac is going to have to do everything in its power to shut down the nation’s leading scorer, Adam Fantilli, and this high-flying Wolverine offense

Quinnipiac vs Michigan picks and predictions

This will be the first meeting of the season between the Bobcats and Wolverines, so just like the first game of the Frozen Four, there should be a feeling-out process in this battle as well.

Quinnipiac is the best defensive team in the country and proved it in regional performances, only allowing one goal in the two games combined. The Bobcats are also only allowing an insane 1.54 goals against per game, and Yaniv Perets has been one of the best netminders in the nation this season.

Perets possesses a record of 32-4-3 while boasting a 1.46 GAA along with a .932 SV%, truly outstanding numbers.

Michigan is the best offensive team in the nation, so it will certainly get its fair share of scoring chances, but this Quinnipiac team is going to make it very difficult for it to find the back of the net. The Wolverines had a strong defensive showing against their regional opponents, only allowing two goals in the two outings, so the Bobcats will also have to work for every chance they get.

I expect a very gritty game and am loving the Under.

My best bet: Under 6 (-120 at BetMGM)

Quinnipiac vs Michigan moneyline analysis

They always say in sports that “defense wins championships” and that is exactly how this Quinnipiac Bobcats team is planning on winning a national title. The ECAC is known to be a very defensive conference, while the Big Ten is most definitely known for their skill level and offensive production. This is going to be a phenomenal matchup.

The Bobcats play a very hard-nosed, 200-foot game under their head coach, Rand Pecknold who is one of the best in all of college hockey. The Wolverines certainly have the more talented group on paper, with future NHL stars like Adam Fantilli and Luke Hughes — both in the Top 10 in the country in scoring — but when you have talent like this on your team, that just adds even more pressure.

Quinnipiac’s blue line is going to make life very hard on those two incredible players, and I feel this Bobcats' team plays so well together that I’m not positive Michigan can out skill their work ethic.

I think Quinnipiac finds a way to get it done.

Quinnipiac vs Michigan Over/Under analysis

As offensively talented as this Michigan Wolverines group is, they struggled to score against the Penn State Nittany Lions in their last game, only tallying one goal in regulation. This only tells me they're going to have to battle against an even better defensive team like the Quinnipiac Bobcats.

In their last four games combined, both these teams have only allowed a total of three goals against, so both of them have certainly locked in on the defensive end.

Perets has put this Bobcats team on his back all season long and I expect him to continue to do so on college hockey’s biggest stage. I think he, along with his teammates, will keep this game low scoring.
