Racing results: Four of the biggest shock winners in 2021 at huge in-running prices

There have been a lot of surprise winners on the horse racing circuit during 2021. Some went off as huge outsiders, others had to overcome huge in-race odds.

Sean Quinlan pulled off the 'ride of the year' on For Jim at Hexham. The horse was a long way behind the leaders early on in the October 9 'Happy 60th Birthday Dave Burley Handicap Chase'. Quinlans and his mount gelled on the final circuit and they came into it as the leader tired. They were in front heading to the last fence and won by half a length from Classical Milano.

Sam Twiston-Davies won the Lewis Rally Sport Another Kind Of Horsepower Handicap Chase on October 7. Wigglesworth hit 999-1 in-running and over £50 was traded at that price.

Cool and Clever reached 999-1 in-running in the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden at Roscommon. He was sent off the 10-11 favourite for the May 11 contest. Sunset Shiraz took over around the two pole, but Cool And Clever rallied under Kevin Manning in last 50 yards.

An Forghas won a bumper at Limerick on December 27 at 999-1. The horse was well behind the field at halfway. Trainer Conheady decided to let him go on his own. He works at home on the own and is an inexperienced runner.
