Racing tips: Brave Knight looks like a typical Sir Mark Prescott handicapping improver

Rebacking the horse you previously had bet on doesn't always work out the way you hope or think it will, so when it all goes to plan as it did with Bollin Margaret, it's redemption. She took the mickey at Thirsk, winning by 6L on the bridle, and that's the way she should've won last time out if David Allan didn't fluff it with a crap ride.

Leicester 4:00 – Theatre Honours 5/2 (1pt Bet365/PaddyPower)

Maiden races are normally cesspits to bet on as you're gambling against unexposed horses, but the odds are too big on the Godolphin horse, Theatre Honours.

I can understand why punters and bookies are latching onto Ziryab from the Gosden stable as he has run with promise on his two starts to date and finished 2nd to a promising horse at York last time out. But, if he was as good as the market seems to think, why is Rab Havlin not riding him and he has opted to go and ride at Lingfield? For me, the debut effort of Theatre Honours should've made him the favourite in this race, as he ran to a rating of 88, wasn't exactly too fancied for a Godolphin newcomer at 4/1, so clearly, they were expecting him to come on for the run, his physique would suggest that as well, and he finished behind a nice type who won the race carrying a penalty.

With that experience under his belt, I think he can kick on and land a maiden before going for Class 1 honours, or even the top handicap routes when he can qualify after his third run.

Leicester 4:35 – Brave Knight 2/1 (1pt PaddyPower/Whill)

Another horse who seems to be surprisingly overlooked in the market is the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Brave Knight.

Normally, bookies are running scared of the Prescott-trained handicap improvers, but for some reason, they seem confident that this one will get beat. For me, I think he has a cracking chance, he didn't win by much last time out, but we see that often with Sir Mark's horses, winning by small margins, let the handicap mark creep up and rack up a sequence of wins. He will handle the fast ground much better than his main rivals in the market based on what we've seen so far. Fairbanks has run well on slower ground and has been kept to that type of ground, so they can't be coming into this race with confidence, even though he looked progressive last time out at Haydock. I'm not a horse movement expert but he looked to have a high knee action, and that is normally linked with soft ground lovers, so the good to firm ground at Leicester shouldn't be to his liking, and he is too short in the market.
