The Raiders and Lions had Week 7 showings that fans are desperately trying to forget.

Detroit was on top of the world ahead of a game vs. the Baltimore Ravens, riding a four-game win streak. But a 31% conversion rate on third and fourth down led to a dominant 38-6 Ravens victory.

Las Vegas had an opportunity to be above .500 for the first time this season but fell to 3-4 after losing 30-12 to the Chicago Bears. Brian Hoyer started in place of Jimmy Garoppolo and managed only 129 yards, two interceptions, and zero touchdowns, and Raiders’ rushers combined for an anemic 39 yards.

Garoppolo is set to start after injuring his back in Week 6, and his return gives the Raiders an opportunity to pull a Monday Night Football upset. This is a homecoming for Defensive Player of the Year candidate Maxx Crosby, who attended Eastern Michigan University, located just outside of Detroit.

Top to bottom, Detroit has the more talented roster, and that will be proven with a bounceback Week 8 victory. The Lions rank eighth in points scored per game, while the defense has taken care of business against inferior offenses.

The Raiders are solid defensively, thanks to a stellar defensive line led by Crosby with 6.5 sacks. But Vegas struggles to move the ball, averaging the third-fewest points per game.

The Lions do an excellent job protecting Jared Goff, as only two teams have allowed fewer sacks than Detroit. Expect a big game from Goff and the Lions’ pass catchers in a triumphant MNF win.

After a two-game stretch in Weeks 5 and 6, where Davante Adams saw nine total targets, the three-time All-Pro was outspoken about wanting a more significant workload. Head coach Josh McDaniels clearly heard Adams’ message to the media, as the star WR was targeted 12 times and reeled in seven catches in Las Vegas’ Week 7 defeat.

While Las Vegas is a longshot to achieve anything substantial this season, the Raiders are still scrapping to win games and earn a playoff berth. To get there, Garoppolo must feed the team’s most talented playmaker.

Plus, Adams is quite familiar with the Lions from his days with the Packers. The former Fresno State Bulldog has faced Detroit 13 times in his career and went over 6.5 receptions in six games.
