Red Sox 2024 schedule released, starts with 10-game west coast trip

For the second time in five seasons, the Red Sox will open their season with a long west coast trip in 2024.

Boston will open its season in Seattle on March 28 to start a four-game series against the Mariners, then travel to Oakland for a three-game series against the Athletics. After an off day on April 4, the Red Sox will face the Angels for three games before finally heading home after a 10-game trip. The club’s home opener is April 9 against the Orioles. That game begins a 10-game homestand against the O’s, Angels and Guardians; Boston will host Cleveland on Patriots’ Day (April 15). Major League Baseball officially announced the entire 2024 schedule Thursday afternoon.

In 2019, the opening west coast swing was not kind to the Red Sox, who went 3-8 on their trip to Seattle, Oakland and Arizona. That team missed the postseason after winning the World Series in 2018.
