Red Sox OF prospect makes another jump in Baseball America’s Top 100

The Red Sox outfield prospect just snuck in to the top 100 in July before making a huge jump to No. 33 later that month. Anthony continues to impress since his promotion to High-A Greenville, and that reflected in BA’s latest top 100 when the 19-year-old moved from No. 33 to No. 20.

“While at Low-A, all of Anthony’s underlying numbers pointed to a potential hidden gem. Once he reached High-A, he was no longer hidden,” Baseball America wrote. “Anthony’s excellent bat-to-ball skills and discerning eye pair nicely with his developing plus power. He has the ability to develop into a well-rounded offensive player who can handle center field defensively.”

In 36 games with Greenville, Anthony is batting .292 with 11 home runs, 25 RBI and nine doubles.

Anthony was promoted from Low-A Salem after a .316 batting average with one homer, nine doubles and one triple in 42 games. Director of player development Brian Abraham told MassLive’s Christopher Smith that “more power” would be coming “in the near future.” That power has clearly come as he continues to showcase it in High-A.

Other Red Sox prospects on BA’s latest rankings were Marcelo Mayer (No. 16) and Miguel Bleis (No. 82) and the Red Sox’s 2023 first-round draft pick Kyle Teel (No. 95). Teel, a catcher out of Virginia, debuted with High-A Greenville on Tuesday and impressed with a 3-for-5 night that included two RBI and throwing out a runner.
