Ride of a lifetime with Smothastenesewisky

Northfield, OH – An Ohio Sire Stakes champion at three, Smothastenesewisky (Nob Hill High), will look to continue her recent harness racing success in the $18,000 Filly and Mare Open at MGM Northfield Park on Saturday (January 28).

Smothastenesewisky has given Brian and Mackenzie Haynes the ride of a lifetime, and she has shown no signs of slowing down, winning two of her first three starts in 2023.

The filly won eight of her nine starts, including a $60,000 Buckeye Stallion Series championship at two.

While she won the $300,000 Ohio Sires Stakes championship in September of her 3-year-old season, her most impressive victory that year came in Lexington at the historic Red Mile, where she went a monumental mile in the Filly and Mare Open, winning in 1:48.4.

She enters Saturday’s $18,000 Filly and Mare Open on a two-race win streak against conditioned company. An earner of $417,245, Smothastenesewhiky (Luke Hanners) has won 22 of 58 starts for owner/trainer Haynes.

The Haynes’ are extremely happy with how their champion has kicked off the year and look forward to seeing what she can do against foes on Saturday.

“She came back strong this year and ready to fight,” said Haynes. “We couldn’t be happier; she’s one of a kind and, as our family calls her, a shot of a lifetime. We’re going into the Open feeling confident and ready.”

She will lead Diamondtequilashot (Eric Tharps Jr.), Rock Me Cristal (Ryan Stahl), Mystical Virgin (Kurt Sugg), Blue Ivy (Aaron Merriman), Kat (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.), Harper (Tyler Smith), Slick Artist A (Chris Lems), and Ellegator (Billy Davis Jr).

Saturday’s program features a fifteen-race program, including a $10,000 guaranteed 20-cent Super High Five offered in conjunction with the United States Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.
