Liverpool edging out Chelsea for Lavia

Not only did Chelsea and Liverpool play out a 2-2 draw in the league on Sunday afternoon, the two clubs also both want to sign Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

Caicedo looks Chelsea-bound for what will be a British record transfer fee but the race for Lavia is more open.

The Southampton midfielder had long been linked to a move to Liverpool but the Reds seemed reluctant to spend £50million on the 19-year-old.

Liverpool are still 8/13 favourites to sign Lavia and are in desperate need of a defensive midfielder after losing Fabinho in the summer.

Chelsea already boast a squad full of midfielders but also want to sign Lavia. The Blues are 11/8 to win the race for the teenager.

The former Manchester City youngster enjoyed a breakout season with Southampton last term but is now 25/1 to stay at St Mary’s where he has yet to feature this term.
