This CFL Friday nighter features a pair of hopefuls looking to build momentum for the stretch drive and enter the Grey Cup conversation. 

The Saskatchewan Roughriders head to Quebec to take on the Montreal Alouettes, where home-field advantage doesn't seem to mean much in this matchup. This marks the first meeting between the Alouettes and Roughriders this season.

Saskatchewan is beginning to show life offensively with No. 2 quarterback Mason Fine behind center. Fine has connected on 70.4% of his passes for 876 yards through three starts since No. 1 Trevor Harris underwent knee surgery in mid-July. Of course, Fine will need to protect the football better, as he’s thrown four interceptions and just a single touchdown pass during the stretch.

Montreal will also be tested by an opportunistic Saskatchewan defense, and starting quarterback Cody Fajardo’s status for Friday’s game remains uncertain as he deals with a left shoulder injury. Hell be a game-time decision.

With the Roughriders recording the second-highest defensive grade in Week 9, per Pro Football Focus, it could be a long night for the Montreal offense. Fajardo playing at less than 100%, or Caleb Evans and Davis Alexander having to take snaps would be far from ideal.

Saskatchewan might be riding to an upset Friday night.

This total is too low for Bane. 

He’s pacing the league in both receptions and receiving yards, and he’s averaged 102 yards per game through Fine's past three starts behind center.

Additionally, the Als rank fifth in the league in passing yards allowed and don’t check out as an intimidating pass defense to steer clear of. 

I have Bane conservatively projected for 71.9 receiving yards against the Alouettes on Friday, and there’s a slight edge provided by placing this wager through DraftKings than FanDuel.

It is definitely worth noting that bet365 hasn’t released player props for this game as of Thursday morning, so there could be a better number to target, but I wouldn’t hesitate to lock in a plus EV play now.

Montreal was a -4.5 favorite earlier this week, and the betting support has been for the Als. Pinnacle has moved this line all the way to Montreal -6, so I’d expect our best sports betting apps to also follow suit.

I think there is upset potential here for the Roughriders, and prospective bettors might gain an even better number by being patient and letting this line move even further in the Montreal direction.
