Rugby World Cup Tips: Quarter-Final predictions for the Rugby World Cup 2023

Rugby World Cup tips for a blockbuster weekend of rugby from Dan Till, who makes his quarter-final predictions for the matches in Paris and Marseille

Garry Ringrose of Ireland celebrates scoring his team's sixth try with teammate Bundee Aki during the Rugby World Cup France 2023 match between Ireland and Scotland at Stade de France

After an enthralling Group Stage at the Rugby World Cup 2023, which saw some great performances and shock results, we move into the business end of the tournament this weekend as the eight remaining sides battle it out in the quarter-finals.

The four games take place across Saturday and Sunday, with Ireland vs New Zealand (Saturday 8pm) and France vs South Africa (Sunday 8pm) at the Stade de France in Paris. The Stade Velodrome in Marseille will host Wales vs Argentina (Saturday 4pm) and England vs Fiji (Sunday 4pm).

Rugby World Cup Quarter-Final Predictions

For the first time ever at a World Cup, sides from the Northern Hemisphere topped all four pools and heading into the knockouts the betting suggests that they should all make it through to the semi-finals which would be another piece of history.

Ireland and France face the toughest opponents with titanic games against New Zealand and South Africa respectively, but I think both of those sides should be confident of a victory.

If we are to see a shock, I think it will come in Marseille, with Argentina or Fiji (13/5 on Betfred to beat England) well capable of making the semi-finals with a strong performance.

Who are the favourites to win the 2023 Rugby World Cup?

Hosts France and the world’s number one side Ireland currently head the betting for the Rugby World Cup and the bookies seem unable to split them with a best price of 3/1 available for both teams on bet365. Both teams topped their pool and should they make it through this weekend, a clash in the final will be very much on the cards.

Rugby World Cup Betting Tips

My bet for the weekend’s action is Dan Sheehan to score anytime at a best price of 3/1 on Spreadex. The Ireland hooker has quickly returned to form after missing the start of the tournament with an injury and he got his first World Cup try against Scotland last weekend.

Sheehan is crucial to the intricate way Ireland play and is a threat to score from driving mauls and open field, where his carrying and ball skills cause defences problems.

He has already registered five tries in his 20 test matches, and if Ireland are going to end their quarter-final jinx, Sheehan will be at the heart of the performance.

Backing him at 3/1 is a good value bet.
