Russell Martin to Southampton news as new favourite for Swansea City job emerges

Russell Martin is on the brink of leaving Swansea City to become the next manager of Southampton.

The Saints have one game left of the Premier League season - against Liverpool this Sunday - and hope to have the Swansea City head coach in place imminently, with a move now close to being completed.

Southampton confirmed on Wednesday that current Saints boss Ruben Selles will not be staying on beyond the club's final game this weekend.

Swans boss Martin has one year left on his Swansea.com Stadium contract, with the Saints reportedly agreeing £400,000 in compensation to Swansea.

Meanwhile, former Swansea coach Chris Davies has emerged as the new favourite to succeed Martin in the Swansea.com Stadium dugout.
