Sacramento Kings: Bettor wins $10,000 on Pacific Division future bet

The Sacramento Kings weren’t a popular pick to make the NBA playoffs at the start of the season, and that is not aging well for the many of us who faded them.

It had been 16 years since they last made it, after all. So it wasn’t exactly crazy to think they’d be sitting this postseason out too, especially coming off a 30-52 record just a season ago. But not only have the Kings clinched a playoff berth, they just incredibly locked up the Pacific Division title.

One bettor took a $25 flier on them to do just that at the start of the season, and the odds were long at +40000. That bet just turned into a $10,000 win.

This is the stuff dreams are made of. It may seem silly now that the odds were so long to begin with, but it wasn’t that wild at the time.

The Pacific includes the last seven Western Conference champions between the Warriors, Suns and Lakers — not to mention the always competitive Clippers. The Kings have been an afterthought in the division for years.

Now, we have to start thinking about their chances to do more, which would make another bettor who put $10,000 on them to win the NBA Finals very happy.
