The Minnesota Twins and the San Diego Padres meet in MLB action from Petco Park on Friday night.

The Minnesota Twins will look to rebound from being swept in their two-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers after a 10-4 loss to Milwaukee last time out. Luis Arraez has 108 hits including 16 doubles while also posting a .333 batting average. Byron Buxton also has 61 hits with a team-high 24 home runs and 44 RBIs and Gary Sanchez has 19 doubles to lead the Twins in two-baggers this season. Jorge Polanco has 70 hits and 49 RBIs and Max Kepler has 39 RBIs as well on the year, while Carlos Correa’s also added 79 hits. Joe Ryan will start here and is 7-3 with a 2.89 ERA and 73 strikeouts this season.

The San Diego Padres will hope to bounce back after a 4-3 loss to the Detroit Tigers in their series finale last time out. Manny Machado has a team-high 101 hits with 20 doubles, 16 home runs and 54 RBIs while Jurickson Profar also has 21 doubles, 9 home runs and 40 RBIs. Eric Hosmer also has 90 hits with a .277 batting average and 16 doubles as well as 7 home runs and 39 RBIs this season. Jake Cronenworth has 3 triples as well as 23 doubles and 49 RBIs on the year. Blake Snell will start here and is 2-5 with a 4.75 ERA and 71 strikeouts this season.

Minnesota is 1-5 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 in their last 5 series-opening games while the over is 5-0-1 in their last 6 games overall. San Diego is 4-1 in their last 5 series-opening games and 2-6 in their last 8 games against the AL Central while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games overall.

I get why the Padres would be favored at home, but the reality here is that the Padres just didn’t look good in their series with Detroit and even though he got a win last time out, I’m still having a hard time buying into Blake Snell as the Padres have lost way more than they’ve won with him on the hill this season. Joe Ryan is still one of the top pitchers if not the top arm in Minnesota’s staff and I think we’re getting great value with him on the road in this one. Give me the Twins here.
