Saturday Plays: Wood Memorial Pick 4, Blue Grass and more

There are three Derby points races on Saturday. The stakes are: $750,000 Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct, $1 million Blue Grass Stake at Keeneland and $250,00 Santa Anita Derby.

Aqueduct Race 8 is Wood Memorial Stakes (G2). Morello won Gotham Stake last month. He has a 114 TimeformUS Speed Figure and 99 BRIS Speed Rating. Morellos is a son of Classic Empire, who won the 2017 Arkansas Derby ( G1) and came second in the Preakness St.

Speaker’s Corner won the Fred W. Hooper Stakes at Gulfstream and the Gulf Stream Park Mile in March. He also won a seven-furlong allowance at Saratoga.

Greatitude finished fifth in the Forward Gal Stakes (G3) last start. Todd Pletcher and Repole Stable trust Greatitude enough to enter her in this spot. Venti Valentine is an obvious choice. Nostalgic deserves a look too.

Dean's List faded in the stretch of Gotham and lost by 4 1/2 lengths to the winner Morello. Highly Respected broke his maiden locally at first asking on Feb. 26 by 1 1 /4 lengths. Doctor Jeff won the Atlantic Beach Stakes on turf to close out his 2-year-old season.

Smile Happy, Zandon and Rattle N Roll won the Risen Star Stakes (G2) at Fair Grounds. Epicenter won Louisiana Derby ( G2).

Messier won the Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G2) by 15 lengths. Santa Anita Derby ( G1) is on Saturday. Messier needs a stablemate to soften up the pacesetter Forbidden Kingdom.
