Saturday's Travers Stakes, the 'Midsummer Derby,' is rematch of Kentucky Derby

The "Midsummer Derby" at Saratoga pits the first three finishers from the Kentucky Derby against one another again. The race is a highlight of a weekend racing program filled with races that will preview November's Breeders' Cup World Championships.

Rich Strike won the Kentucky Derby. Epicenter came second in the Preakness and won a grade II race. Zandon came third in Jim Dandy. Cyberknife won an Arkansas Derby and came back to win the Grade III Matt Winn and Grade I Haskell. Artorius is undefeated after three starts. He's the 6-5 morning-line favorite for Friday's $1 million Grade II Charles Town Classic in West Virginia hills. The winner of the race will be announced at the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic at Keeneland. It's also a "Win and You're In" for the Breeder's Cup.

Clairiere, Malathaat and Search Results won the last race in the Grade I Ogden Phipps. Letruska won a race at the 2021 Personal Ensign. Society and Midnight Stroll are in a field of nine for Friday's $500,000 Grade III Charles Town Oaks. Green Up, an Upstart filly trained by Todd Pletcher, ran 1 mile and 70 yards on a fast track in 1:39.77.

Jackie's Warrior is the favorite in Saturday's $600,000 Grade I Forego at Saratoga. Jack Christopher is going for the first time in a race going 7 furlongs around one turn. Speaker's Corner is 6-5 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s $250,00 Grade II Pat O'Brien Stakes at Del Mar. The winner will go for Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile. The runner-up will be either American Theorum or Laurel River.

Cee Cee, Bella Sofia, Obligatory and Lady Rocket are in the field of seven for Sunday's $500,000 Grade I Ballerina at Saratoga. CEE Cees is the reigning Breeders' Cup champion. Bella's younger rival Obigatory has two wins and a third since then. Lady's won the Grade III Chicago Stakes at Churchill Downs.

Saturday's $750,000 Grade I Resorts World Casino Sword Dancer at Saratoga is a "Win and You're In" for the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf. Broome from Aidan O'Brien's yard finished second in last year's Breeder's Cup. Saturday's Travers Stakes is rematch of Kentucky Derby.

Broome is the morning-line favorite for Saturday's Travers Stakes. He's not had a lot of success since last November. Chad Brown has three winners trained by him: Adhamo, Rockemperor and Tribhuvan. Carpenters Call won Monday's Peach Tree Stakes by 1 1/4 lengths over Declared. Nice Ace salvaged show money. Saturday's Travers Stake is rematch of Kentucky Derby.

Bumble of Love won Wednesday's $100,000 Peony Stakes for Indiana-bred fillies and mares. Louder Than Words came from last to get place money and Timeless Rose finished third. Leading the Charge won the companion $ 100,00 Bucchero Stake for state- breds by 1 length. Rockin Justice and Akami filled the trifecta. Saturday's Travers Staking is a rematch of Kentucky Derby.
