Saudi Cup 2022: Mandaloun Takes On Mishriff With $20 Million On The Line

The third running of the $20-million Saudi Cup takes place on February 26th at 12:30 p.m. ET (8::00 p., Riyadh). The winner's share of that is $10 million. Mandaloun, 2021's Kentucky Derby place horse, is a favorite. Mishriff, the defending Saudi Cups winner, will be the second favorite behind Mandalou. The field also includes international horses from Japan, Brazil, France and the United States. Bluegrass Wise Man is the trainer of Kentucky horses. He explains the current odds and gives a refresher on the field.

Mandaloun is the defending champion in Saudi Arabia. Mishriff is getting older and less experienced. Bluegrass Wise Man thinks Mandaloun can take Mishreriff. If Mandaloun wins he will double his already considerable lifetime earnings.

Horses are acclimatizing to the King Abdulaziz track and stables in Kentucky. They are eight time zones away and there are many differences between the stabled and the track. Horses have to acclimate to their environment and their diet. The horses are just there to maintain form before the race.
