Seattle Kraken at Carolina Hurricanes odds, picks and predictions

The Seattle Kraken (2-4-1) play the 2nd game of a 4-game road trip against the Carolina Hurricanes (3-4-0) Thursday at PNC Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Kraken vs. Hurricanesodds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Kraken stumbled out of the gate with an 0-3-1 mark, totaling just 3 goals during the span. The Under cashed in all 4 of those outings. It all turned around in a 7-4 win against the Hurricanes at Climate Pledge Arena last Thursday, and Seattle has managed 13 total goals in the past 3 games, cashing the Over twice.

The Hurricanes opened the season with 28 goals scored and 30 goals allowed, cashing the Over in all 6 contests. However, Carolina really was on fumes at the end of a 6-game losing streak, bottoming out with a 3-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning to wrap up the trip on Tuesday.

Kraken at Hurricanes projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (0-4-0, 3.04 GAA, .896 SV%) vs. Frederik Andersen (2-0-0, 4.14 GAA, .855 SV%)

Grubauer has been on the short end of all 4 starts. He has coughed up 3 or fewer goals in 3 of his 4 outings, but the offense has provided him with just 3 total goals of support. He went 0-2-0 with a 4.05 GAA and .890 SV% in 2 starts against Carolina last season.

Andersen hasn't played since leaving the game Oct. 17 in San Jose after taking a hard shot to the mask. He had won his 1st 2 starts, although he allowed 8 goals on 60 shots in those outings.

Kraken at Hurricanes picks and predictions

Prediction

Kraken 4, Hurricanes 3

The KRAKEN (+165) are worth playing as moderate underdogs in Raleigh.

Seattle really took it to Carolina in the 1st meeting last week in the Pacific Northwest, getting instantly well on the offensive end with a season-high 7 goals. If Andersen does indeed get the starting nod, there could be a little bit of rust. Even so, whomever is in between the pipes, the Hurricanes have allowed 33 goals across just 7 games, so they cannot be trusted right now.

The KRAKEN +1.5 (-155) aren't a bad option on the puck line, if you just cannot bring yourself to play Seattle straight up, and you would prefer some insurance.

The Hurricanes -1.5 (+130) are not the play. Carolina has managed a 1-4 mark on the puck line in the past 5 when favored, with the lone cover a 6-3 win against lowly San Jose, who just happens to be the opponent coming in Friday in the 2nd end of the back-to-back situation.

The OVER 6.5 (+100) is worth a look at even-money.

While the Under cashed last time out in Tampa in the shutout loss, the Over is still 6-1 in 7 games for Carolina overall, including a combined 11 goals in Seattle.

The Kraken started off slowly with 4 straight Under results, but the Over is 2-1 across the past 3 contests.
