THE LOWDOWN

A large South African contingent will form the spine of this Seattle Orcas squad, which is led by experienced bowler Wayne Parnell. Parnell is joined at Seattle by fellow countryman Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen, both of whom are likely to play key roles for this team. Also worth watching is all-rounder Sikandar Raza, who has had a wonderful year both playing international and franchise cricket. Dasun Shanaka and Angelo Perera should feature for the Orcas as well, but Mitchell Marsh is unlikely to take any part in the competition due to his Ashes commitments.
WASHINGTON FREEDOM
Washington Freedom are one of two Major League Cricket franchises who contain a strategic high-performance partnership with an Australian state, this one being New South Wales. Josh Philippe and Ben Dwarshuis are both set to turn out for the Freedom, whilst the vastly experienced Moises Henriques will captain. Their bowling attack boasts significant pace through the likes of Anrich Nortje of South Africa and Adam Milne of New Zealand. Marco Jansen offers a left-arm option, whilst the power of Glenn Phillips with the bat should also come in useful.
THE PREDICTION
This game feels like it could be a real a battle between an explosive batting line-up and a quality bowling attack. On paper, Seattle Orcas looks capable of scoring significantly more runs at a quicker rate than Washington Freedom, but the Freedom will believe they can keep their opponents under wraps and pick up wickets with a number of potent bowling options. However, on a small ground and what is likely to be a good batting surface in Grand Prairie, the strength-in-depth of Seattle Orcas may well see them get the better of Washington Freedom, so consider backing an Orcas victory.
