Six Nations: George Furbank starts at full-back for England as Steve Borthwick rings changes against Scotland

Steve Borthwick has made five changes to his starting XV as England bid to end Scotland’s dominance of the Calcutta Cup and make it three wins from three in this year’s Six Nations.

Northampton’s George Furbank is set to start at full-back in place of Freddie Steward, who has been left out of the matchday squad entirely despite his strong performance in a narrow win over Wales last time out.

Ollie Lawrence is fit again after overcoming a hip injury and has been picked ahead of Fraser Dingwall at inside centre, while Danny Care is in at scrum-half for the injured Alex Mitchell.

In the front row, Borthwick has named Dan Cole and Ellis Genge as his starting props as England bid to end their poor form in this fixture.

Not since 2020 have England lifted the Calcutta Cup, while they will also be keen to keep their Grand Slam hopes alive.

“We're pleased with the start we've made to our Guinness Six Nations campaign but know that a difficult test awaits us in Edinburgh against an in-form Scotland team,” Borthwick said.

“The atmosphere is always special for any Calcutta Cup match and I'm sure this weekend's game at Murrayfield will be no different.

“This group of players are looking forward to the challenge on Saturday and to creating some very special memories.”

Should Scotland win, it will be the first time they have beaten England four times in a row in this championship since the 1890s.

Gregor Townsend’s side survived a late comeback to beat Wales 27-26 in their first game before losing in controversial fashion to France.
