Reasoning

The South Alabama Jaguars are basically hosting the 68 Ventures Bowl at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Alabama, as this game is played on its home field. Everything isn’t great for the Jags, however, as star RB La’Damian Webb is listed as an opt-out. He rolled for 1,007 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns, while averaging 5.4 yards per carry, so that’s a big piece of the offense missing in action. Leading receiver WR Caullin Lacy hit the transfer portal, too, bringing his team high 91 receptions, 1,316 yards and seven touchdowns with him. Even with those two, the Jaguars were just 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS in the final five regular-season games. QB Carter Bradley is still dealing with the after effects of a knee injury suffered in mid-November, but he has been reportedly practicing well.

On the other side, the Eastern Michigan Eagles had portal issues, too, losing QB Austin Smith and TE Andreas Paaske on offense, as well as OG Zack Conti. The defense will have to do without EDGE rusher Mikah Coleman and DL Alex Merritt. Coleman led the team with four sacks, while Merritt’s absence won’t be as much of an impact. And Smith completed just 57.4% of his passes for 1,775 yards, nine touchdowns and seven picks, while running for 134 yards and two touchdowns. It isn’t like EMU is replacing Patrick Mahomes here. Ike Udengwu III is expected to take the reins of the offense.
