South Alabama plays WKU in the New Orleans Bowl. It's the third bowl game for South Alabama under head coach Kane Wommack. WkU has played in eight FBS-level bowl games and won five of them. The last five New Year's Day games have been relatively close, but the last eight have seen big wins. The Sun Belt has won the past four New Years Day bowls.

South Alabama is a team that has been a rock defensively and a ground game that was one of the best in the nation. La’Damian Webb ran for over 1,000 yards and 13 scores this year. The Jaguars haven't had too many problems surviving the games against teams that throw a lot.

WKU will win the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. South Alabama's defense will be thrown on 50 times for at least 300 yards. WKu's offense can run well enough to mix it up and the defense is effective. The defense makes up for its weaknesses with forced fumbles and interceptions.
