Sportlogiq, Inside Edge partner to produce NHL data

Sportlogiq and Inside Edge have announced a partnership that will see the two collaborate on producing automated data and insights for NHL coverage. Through the partnership, Inside Edge will launch its first hockey product on its Remarkable platform, which will be backed by Sportlogiq’s NHL data and accessible to Sportlogiq clients.

Using AI technology, Inside Edge provides automated textual insights based on play-by-play data across an array of sports, including football (college and NFL), basketball (college and NBA) and baseball (MLB). They supply insights for sports broadcast, team, and gambling entities.

Sportlogiq, meanwhile, leverages computer vision to generate player performance metrics from a range of video formats, including game video, for more than 150 teams worldwide. Its primary focus is hockey – where 31 of the NHL’s 32 teams are clients – but it also has deals in college football, the NFL and soccer.

Inside Edge VP of Product & Sales Kenny Kendrena and Sportlogiq Director of Business Development (Media) Patrick Markey spoke to SBJ about the partnership, which each says will enhance their respective product.

“It’s right in line with the three avenues that we tend to work in already, which is: clubs, media, betting,” Kendrena said. “We’ll work as true partners on this thing. We’ll take their data, we’ll turn it into the Remarkable insights and then we can sell into all three of those markets together.”

Added Markey: “What Remarkable does opens up what we do to a much larger, broader audience. The volume of insights that it produces – we do have a research group that produces insights manually – but I think being able to put a tool at our client’s fingertips to be able to say, ‘This is something you can use on the fly’ enhances what we’re already offering.”
