Steve Clarke's team are within a point of promotion and a play-off place for the next Euros. They have taken 12 points from a possible 15. Their performance against Ukraine on Wednesday was as complete and polished as anything we have seen from the team since Clarke took the role. On Saturday night, they beat Republic of Ireland. Tomorrow they play Poland in Krakow. They lost to Ukraine at the World Cup Finals in June. If they lose to Poland, there will be knee jerk recriminations. Some people will call for Clarke to be dismissed. But if they don't see the progress made under Clarke, then they deserve to remember when they had a manager worth moaning about.
