Stewards Cup Form Guide & Tips

1. California Spangle ($7)

California Spangle is a classy type who won well fresh up, but his form since hasn’t been good enough.

He has lost a length or two this season, and despite owning 11 wins from 22 starts, he could find a couple of these too tough.

2. Voyage Bubble ($3)

The joint favourite following placings behind Beauty Eternal and Golden Sixty, but he will need to turn the tables on Beauty Eternal.

He should be fitter after two runs this preparation, and as the odds suggest, he shouldn’t be left out of selections.

3. Straight Arron (Best Each Way – $4)

Liked its Group 2 win two starts back in the Jockey Club Cup.

Fourth against the likes of Romantic Warrior in the Hong Kong Cup, and he was within a length of the win.

Can’t be overlooked based on that form.

4. Russian Emperor ($26)

Fresh up after showing little in two runs last campaign. He would need to improve significantly on those efforts.

5. Beauty Eternal (Best Bet – $3)

Scored nicely two back when beating Beauty Joy as the favourite.

Only fair behind Golden Sixty in the Hong Kong Mile, but that was an awfully tough race, and he ran well enough.

Having Zac Purton in the saddle helps his chances, so put him on top.

6. Beauty Joy ($9)

Beauty Joy hasn’t been too far away from the mark this season. There has been solid money for him at each-way odds, and he’s a first four chance.

He only needs to improve slightly to figure in the first three.

7. Healthy Happy (Best Roughie – $26)

He meets a stronger field than what he has been facing, but his best form could see him figure in the money at big odds.

There can be an upset result in a small field, so take the $26 and hope he can hang on. (8) Fantastic Treasure ($51)

The outsider of the field and rightfully so. His form isn’t good enough to test the opposition.
